Founded in 1972, the Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We own and protect over 1,200 woods throughout the UK covering in excess of 50,000 hectares; all of which are freely open for all to enjoy. Our vision is to see a UK rich in native woods & trees enjoyed and valued by everyone. We campaign for greater protection for native woods (especially ancient woodland – our richest wildlife habitat and the equivalent of the rainforest) and aim to double the amount of native woodland in the UK (we have already planted over 13million trees – more than any other UK conservation organisation). We have over 220,000 members who share our passion for woodland and nature. For each new member we can, on average, care for and protect half an acre of native woodland.
